Writers: Join us @ The Essence of Motown Literary Jam & Conference Nov 13 – 15, 2009

On November 13 – 15, 2009, The Essence of Motown Literary Jam and Conference will take place in various locations in The City of Detroit.

Whether you want to have someone publish you or you want to publish yourself, learning how to become a writer and be in the business of writing is necessary for success.

At The Essence of Motown Literary Jam & Conference, we’ve lined up experts and authors to help you reach your literary goal.

From Writing, Publishing, Marketing and Promoting, workshops will be held to give writers a chance to educate themselves on the business of writing.

Authors and Experts will also be available to offer advice on the road to literary success and help writers avoid the bumps in the business.

Join us Friday, November 13, 2009 @ 6pm for a night of social networking at the newly opened beautiful Virgil Carr Center in Harmonie as we celebrate with readers, authors and poets, plus recognize people in the literary community.

On Saturday, November 14, 2009 @ 8am at the Northwest Activity Center on Detroit’s Westside as we provide workshops, genre panels and more!!!

Author Genre Panels Start @ 1pm (30 mins each – FREE TO PUBLIC)

Delve into the minds of Authors and Poets as they discuss their writing projects, motives and reasoning to their literary endeavors and get signed copies of their books. (Would you like to be an author at the event?)

Sample Workshop for November 14, 2009 will include will be:

  • How to start your writing journey – plotting your way to write a great book and maintaining a writing career.
  • Poetry Publishing and Marketing
  • Finding Agent or publisher for your work.
  • The Business of Independent Publishing
  • Building and Effective Easily Writers
  • Ebook 101
  • Screenwriting

Sample Genre Panels for November 14, 2009 will be:

  • Murder Mystery and Mayhem
  • Non-Fiction, Inspirational and Poetry
  • Romance – Mild to Wild
  • Science Fiction and other oddities
  • Christian Fiction and Non-Fiction
  • Children, Tween & Teen… Enjoying The Read!


In addition to this we will also be providing small press publisher interviews for inspiring writers for a chance to become a published author.

On Sunday November 15, 2009 morning at 8am, we provide a Publisher’s Breakfast at the beautiful Southern Fires Restaurant near Belle Isle, where writers, authors, poets and publishers can learn the about the business of publishing.
